Known as the Queen City on the Hudson River, Poughkeepsie is located half way between New York City and Albany, the state capital. Founded in 1687, Poughkeepsie is home to a number of historical sites, including the courthouse where New York officially ratified the Constitution in 1788. In addition, Poughkeepsie is home to Vassar College, famous for its liberal arts instruction as well as the 200 varieties of trees on the 1,000 acre campus.
